Disk image backup software is both easy and reliable to use

The hard disk is where data and system settings are stored.  For the computer to be usable we first install the operating system and then we install the programs that we are going to use.  Upon installing the operating system or any programs in our computer, we setup its settings according to our preference.  All of these installation processes take hours and hours to be done.

As we work along, we save documents, images, music, videos, internet links and other important files to the hard disk.  What if one day the hard disk crashes?  What will happen if you didn’t make a back up?  It would surely be a complete disaster since you will go through the hassle of reformatting your hard disk and reinstalling your operating system and all programs you previously installed and worst is you lost all your important files stored in your hard drive.

Nowadays, many computer software producers sell disk image backup software so you can get a completely identical copy of your hard drive and this is usually for the purpose of back up.  Creating a disk image means copying the content of the hard drive sector by sector so you will have exactly the same system settings and program settings before the hard disk crashes.  In the next paragraph, we will examine some examples of image backup software.

Paragon Drive Backup
Paragon Drive Backup offers an easy tool with complete utility tasks to create a complete image of the hard drive for system restoration.  This back up software can also clone operating systems like Windows XP and Windows Vista for system recovery.

O&O DiskImage
O&O DiskImage is disk image backup software which is great for system back up.  It can clone your hard drive entirely and it can also compress data and at the same time it also gives you the option to schedule a back up.  This back up software easily copies the exact content of the hard drive and burns image files that make restoration very easy.

Another example of disk image software is the one used by Mac computers; it is used as a default utility for handling backup software in system 7 through Mac OS X 10.2 which is also usable in system software 6. Another use of the disk image utility software for Mac is to copy 400K floppy disks by using as few disk swaps as possible on a machine with a RAM of 128K only while using the original disk copy as a screen buffer to store binary data from the copied disk. A later version of Mac OS X uses another version of disk image backup software which uses Disk Image Mounter for mounting images and backup software for creating them.

Data recovery imaging usually requires the ability to pre-configure hard drives such as working with unstable drives allowing it to read data from bad sectors or unstable drive which is caused by mechanical wear or other issues. Read instability is usually a major factor when using backup software for drives in operating system such as Windows.

Here are some examples of disk image backup software used in data recovery:

R-Drive Image 4.7
R-Drive Image 4.7 is a disc image backup software which provides the user an imaging capability.  This is great for duplicating whatever is on your old hard drive and that is of course including the operating system you are using as well as the partitions you have created.  This software is very helpful as backup software when you hard disc fails due to virus infection or hardware malfunction.

Handy Backup™ Professional 6.7
This backup software allows you to copy everything on the hard drive to a CD/DVD, through LAN or even Online.  This is good for users who want the backup encrypted and compressed.  The Handy Backup™ Professional 6.7 edition also features a disc imaging capability which clones the hard drive creating a hard disc image.  In times when your old hard drive fails, you can restore everything including system settings with your hard disc that has an image cloned using this software.

A usual operating system is has a limited capability with drives that take a long time to read, so a separate hardware control of the main hard drive is required to achieve the full spectrum of the disk image solution for a better backup software.
