Disk copy utility makes it easier for the user to copy the contents of the hard drive
A disk copy utility is a software which allows the user to copy all content from hard drive to hard drive or to a CD or DVD. Basically, this disk utility helps the user to backup data and for the data to be restored in case the hard disk fails in the future. It is used in imaging hard drive so the user can have exactly the same content and settings after the disk is restored. There are several disk copy utilities used in imaging hard drive.
One example of a disk copy utility is the one use by Mac computers; it is used as a default utility for handling imaging hard drive in system 7 through Mac OS X 10.2 which is also usable in system software 6. A later version of Mac OS X uses another version of a copy utility which uses Disk Image Mounter for mounting images and Disk Utility for creating them. Another use of the disk copy solution for Mac is to copy 400K floppy disks by using as few disk swaps as possible on a machine with a RAM of 128K only while using the original disk copy as a screen buffer to store binary data from the copied disk.
These are some of the main tasks of the disk copy utility for Mac:
: It can copy the creation, compression, encryption and conversion of the imaging hard drive for CD/DVD images which is identical to the .iso format in HFS plus format which is not compatible to windows. The disk copy software can also be used for reading a wide range of formats that can be read by the actual disk utility.
: It is also used as a copy utility for the disk utility task of verifying a disk’s integrity and the ability to repair the disk if damaged. This task will work for both format partitions as FAT-32 partitions with Microsoft Windows and Mac format partitions.
: The disk copy software for Mac is also used to securely delete free space or disk by using a 35-pass Gutmann algorithm, “zero out” data, and the 7-pass DOD 5220-22 M standard.
: Another main function of the disk copy utility is to enable or disable journaling while checking the S.M.A.R.T status of a hard disk. It can also be used to restore volumes from Apple Software Restore images and could give a boost to the imaging hard drive.
The copy utility disk is also used by other computers with the same purpose of supporting the main hard disk; these are some examples of copy utility:
Seagate MaxBlast
This software is for users of Seagate Hard disk. It has a disk copy utility which allows the user to copy everything including operating system and system settings from the old hard disk to a new one and be up and running instantly.
EaseUs Disk Copy 2.3
This software provides a copy utility which allows the user to copy and back up data from your hard drive. It copies sector by sector regardless of hard disk partition scheme. The best thing about this disk software is that it is free.
R-Drive Image 4.7
This utility is best for recovering data lost due to failure of hard drive or operating system itself including virus attack and other hardware malfunctions. It is used imaging hard drive copying exactly the content which includes but not limited to files, folders, partitions et al. R-Drive Image 4.7 is also best if you plan to setup identical computers. This can definitely save your time and effort because this utility can image the entire system of one computer and deploy it to other computers for them to have the same system.
