Information On The Colorado Backup Tape Technology From HP!

HP offers a simple, reliable and complete backup system based on the Colorado Tape Unit.

In the dynamic world of Information Technology the risk of data loss as a result of a computing disaster is seen as a major treat for maintaining a business. The need for preservation and data storage integrity is growing, as more and more complex information is being generated and stored on the PC.

This kit includes tape drive from Colorado (plug and play), Colorado Backup II software for Windows and DOS, data cable and a user manual.

Colorado drives are being shipped with parallel port, USB port, (internal/external) IDE and EIDE interfaces. HP Colorado data tape cartridges for backup are preformatted, labeled and certified to deliver the highest level of performance and reliability for use with HP Colorado T1000/T1000e, T3000, T4i/T4e, 5GB/5GBe and 8GB/8Gbe computer tape backup systems.


The migration path followed by all HP Colorado backups and its system accessories offers backward compatibility with the QIC standard. With this solution you can interchange HP Colorado tapes with other QIC compatible tapes and you can use HP Colorado tapes with all alternative QIC compatible tape drivers as well.


The current capacity of 14GB being offered by Colorado cartridge tapes is enough to accommodate the Windows operating system, software applications and other data on a single cartridge. Thus you don’t have to spend hours by managing the backup process and by swapping media. This is otherwise often the case with low-capacity removal media like CDs.

To assist computer users make backup of critical data from today's large hard disks, HP has included Travan 20 10GB/20GB "uncompressed/compressed" drives into their tape backup Colorado line.
